Merry Christmas, Everyone!!

Christmas Eve celebrations at Beer Shop in Wonju – I got to meet Andrea’s co-teachers finally!

Spent Christmas Eve with my dear brain twin in Wonju (worth every minute of holiday traffic to get there!), where all the foreigners threw a big Christmas party at Beer Shop. There were games, free service food from the bartender (so sweet), and a secret Santa that Andrea bought me a gift in my name for so I could participate (baaaahhh ily ^ ^). Got to meet all her friends that I’ve been hearing so much about, and though – I won’t lie – I’ve been feeling a little of the holiday blues and missing my family/home traditions a lot, it was a fantastic time. We also went to noraebang right after and sang ourselves hoarse over a mix of Christmas carols, Queen, and Carly Rae Jepson. A good Christmas indeed.

Slept beside Andrea’s Christmas tree, and here it is, brightened by the misty light of this Munmak morning.

So before we start tearing open our presents, just wanted to wish all of you the merriest of Christmases and send you the warmest of hugs.

And speaking of things sent, happy Christmas, family!! This was sent but will only arrive in two weeks.

But here’s the gift of seeing your gifts and the joy of anticipation and an extended holiday ^ ^

Love you all!! Have a safe, happy, healthy holiday with excellent food, loved ones, and juuuuuuust a smidgeon too much to drink 😉

  1. Hi Marta and Andrea, Hope you are having a fun Christmas, with lots of good treats to eat and surprises from family and friends. I wish you both the very best in the New Year and stay warm and healthy. Thank you for the very interesting blog. Sorry my package did not arrive in time for Xmas.

  2. Marta, you can make your own vanilla flavoring this way. Purchase 1 vanilla bean, it’s a long thin thing, open it up and put the whole bean into a small bottle with vodka in it. After a couple of weeks the alcohol in the vodka become flavored with the essence of vanilla. If you want instant and intense vanilla flavor in something purchase a vanilla bean open it up and scrape the pulp from inside the bean with a sharp knife and add the pulp in what you are making. You’ll have lots of little brown bits in your concoction, but you have some intense flavor as well. Vanilla beans are a bit expensive, but you really only need one in about 1/2 cup of vodka to last you a long time, you can just keep topping off the vodka to make it last even longer. Much love, A/C
