First Sick Day

So yesterday I had to take my first sick day since arriving here. Although I was really nervous about taking one (it was a Friday so I didn’t want to seem like I was just trying to get a long weekend out of it), it was ultimately necessary.

Luckily, it was just one of those 24 hour flus, so I was feeling better by evening, and spent the rest of the night enjoying the luxury that is being able to stay home while sick (seriously almost worth getting sick for, it feels so nice to have an excuse to sleep). As a part of this rare treat, I spent a lot of time catching up on Game of Thrones so that I could start watching Season 4 (excitement!!). And gosh, George R. R. Martin, you’re one damn hardcore writer.

Likely because it’s been on my mind, while browsing Reddit today, I came across an article about Kim Jong-Un. Whenever either of the Koreas end up on Reddit, they tend to grab my attention.

I was not disappointed.

The article was about how North Korea has written an official letter of complaint to the United Kingdom about one of its hair salons. The reason? For an April promotion they have going on, they used dear KJU as an example of a bad hairstyle.

Angered by this ribbing, the North Korean embassy contacted both the salon and the London Foreign Office and London now has to think about how to make its formal apology so as not to incur the wrath of NK’s merciless leader.

While I was reading, I couldn’t help but notice certain similarities between Kim Jong-Un and certain other merciless leaders…

It’s really uncanny when you start thinking about it.

But anyway, if you want to read the full article, here you are.

  1. May your sick days be few in number just so you can feel well…but if you must be home sick, this was a good way to spend it. Love the Georges lifts…George Martin’s quote, and George of the Jungle video 😀
