It’s been so inconsolably humid here that it’s even got me, #1 fan of summer heat in all its forms, nostalgic for the modest June weather of Montreal.
After a particularly opressive day sitting at my desk and contemplating the simiarities between living in Korea’s pre-monsoon season and how a sock must feel, trapped between a sweaty foot and the stifling confines of a shoe, I slid out of my chair on a slippery slide of persperation and headed home. As soon as I got in, the A/C was welcomed warmly (pun not intended) by yours truly, and there was nothing else to do but peel off my damp clothes to dry on the rack and stand in front of the cool air blast. Such was the relief that I felt tears of joy on my cheeks. Although it might have been residual sweat.
When I was satisfactorily chilly, I decided that maybe I should pursue my Montreal nostalgia and that might make me remember both the good times and the comparatively awesome weather of Korea in juxtaposition to Canadiana winters. The result was me looking at pictures of beards for inspiration to continue my art kick, and the following hipster beardman was birthed.
And because I had so much fun taking progress shots before, I’ll add them in again this time. I’m trying to work on leaving white space and not overworking the piece as much, which ultimately I did do, but it’s better than usual so I’m satisfied.
I probably should have stopped at the second to last – the reflection on the shades ended up being too dark and blocky, but I couldn’t resist the urge to make it pop…
(Before and after)
Here are some closeups.
And that was the acconplishment of my day, along with cleaning my apartment and making a ballin’ PPT game for my third graders. Au revoir!
