Since my arrival back in Canada, I’ve made it a point to infuse my life with as much art as there was art lacking in my Life in Korea. As such I’ve been very, very busy. So busy I didn’t even start Inktober (the month of daily ink drawings/ink based art) until today.
Lately I’ve been really into the idea of woodblock printing. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s Andrea’s influence with her rubber stamp endeavours, but I’ve just really gotten it in my head that carving things out, putting paint on them, and then stamping the shit out of stuff is a cool idea. What’s more is it sounded like a great unique way of starting up Inktober.
Thus I went to a couple of art stores, stocked up, and hit my box of virgin carving tools that I bought as supplies for one of my Marianopolis art classes and never used. The result:
So not great…tried to do the moon but it turned out a little…abstract. Still, I’m pleased as punch for having given it a go and am keen as to try it again. I’m thinking mushrooms and nautical motifs.
