There are few things in this world that I love as much as Quebec strawberries (Ricky can be satisfied to note that he is one of them).
But honestly, I barely have words for these little berries – these diamonds of the produce world. Both sweet and tart; tiny and wild; superfluously red not just outside, but all the way through.
I feel so devilishly indulgent when I eat them I could be a demon savouring the hearts of newborn babes.
Luckily, I’m not a demon and they are not coronary organs of any sort and therefore can be enjoyed by all.
Whether you’re slicing them onto fluffy summer pavlovas, topping them on slathered cream cheese bagels, or just popping them into your mouth fresh and warm from the sun, you have not had a strawberry until you’ve had one of these.
If you’re a foodie of any sort, then this has to be on your bucketlist. Go on, mark it down.
June to do list: go to Quebec and buy strawberries.
You’ll thank me for it.
